Review by hotel critic
Nestled within the stunning Langdale Estate, my recent overnight stay at the Langdale Hotel & Spa offered both relaxation and adventure. We were fortunate to enjoy the convenience of direct access to the surrounding hills, eliminating the need for a car to embark on a day of exploring. For dining, the hotel lacks an in-house restaurant, requiring a short stroll to Stove, the estate's main eatery. The modern ambiance, characterized by an open kitchen, sets a vibrant yet relaxed tone. We indulged in Mediterranean-style cuisine, with options ranging from pizzas to grilled meats, providing a refreshing change from the surrounding traditional fare. Upon returning from a morning hike, my partner and I opted to visit Wainwrights Inn for a hearty meal. The pub's warm atmosphere complimented the classic dishes, including burgers and gammon steak, which made for a satisfying conclusion to our culinary journey. Our only drawback was the breakfast buffet experience. Despite a diverse selection, the understaffed setting led to prolong waits for replenishment, which felt somewhat disorganized. The overall experience was balanced, leaving us with fond memories and a desire to return for both the spa and another memorable culinary adventure.
